HOW ASDPN INTENDS TO USE THE INFORMATION COLLECTED
Generally, we use the information you make available to us to provide our services to you, respond to requests you make, improve our services, and offer you additional information, opportunities, and functionality. We may also use your personal information to provide you with regular updates about our services. Finally, we may rely on personal information in order to comply with our legal obligations. Personal information is not used for any additional purposes, such as to profile those who access website (https://www.asdpn.org). INFORMATION COLLECTED THROUGH DONATIONS AND TICKETING
When you make a donation to us, we will make sure we collect your first and last names as well as your email address. In the same way, when you purchase a ticket for one of our events, we will collect your first and last names as well as your email address. For card payments, your credit and debit card details are only collected by our third party payment provider that’s PayPal. ASDPN does not store your credit or debit card details. The data we collect about you here like every other under this policy will enjoy the same level of security.
DURATION OF INFORMATION IN OUR KEEPING
We will only retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purpose for which we collected it in the very first place, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. To determine the appropriate retention period for personal information, we consider the amount, nature, and sensitivity of the personal information, the potential risk of harm from unauthorized use or disclosure of your personal information, the purposes for which we process your personal information and whether we can achieve those purposes through other means, and the applicable legal requirements.
In circumstances where you make available materials to us, such as user generated content or in response to a particular campaign we will generally only keep your content for as long as is reasonably required for the purpose or purposes for which it was submitted unless otherwise stated at the point of generation.

The Africa Science Diplomacy and Policy Network will only contact you for membership purposes where you have provided us with freely given consent to do so. You may provide that consent in various ways including through our online forms carrying the relevant titles available on https://www.asdpn.org or alternatively by means of paper forms, responding television and radio adverts (where consent statements are clearly visible or elaborated). Consent can also be provided through face-to-face contact through engagement with any of our members.
SHARING OF PERSONAL INFORMATION
Personal data obtained from you will not be used for alternative motives or purposes. Our reason for requesting your data will be our guide on how your personal information will be managed. ASDPN will protect your information from public knowledge and may only share it with a selected few of our members depending on their position with respect to the original reason for requesting your information. Your information may also be shared with a select few of our partners and other official collaborators. However we will ensure sufficient dispositions are put in place to ensure that partners and other official collaborators do not use your information to satisfy their personal objectives. Where such a decision is taken, the specific partner or partners will be carefully monitored to ensure he doesn’t step out of the intension for which the information is provided. Your personal data will certainly not be sold or shared to any other category of individual not spelt out in this policy. If at any moment we feel obliged to share out of the already specified category, ASDPN will seek a written authorization from you, but may exceptionally go ahead to provide such information if disclosure at some point is requested by law. Exceptional disclosure may also be to protect the safety of ASDPN if at some point it becomes imperative. You therefore will certainly not receive or expect to receive offers from other organizations or companies because you shared with us your contact.
ACCESS TO INFORMATION
We try to respond to all legitimate requests within 72 hours. Occasionally it may take us longer than 72 hours if your request if your request is particularly complex or if you have made several requests. In this case we will notify you and keep you updated.
DEROGATORY, OBJECTIONABLE AND AGGRESSIVE CONTENTS ON ASDPN SITE AND PLATFORMS
We are very protective of our audience and under no circumstance would we tolerate the sharing of derogatory, objectionable and aggressive contents on our website and other platforms. This is not only because it is morally wrong to engage in such practices but also because we target a wide audience who are mostly very sensitive to such disrespectful contents. You are strongly advised not to post such contents which will steer strong reactions and disrupt the actions of ASDPN vis-à-vis advancing peace and sustainable evidence based development. We will use your personal information to serve you with a warning notice as an expression of our discontent with your post. Should you persist with posts that fall within this characterization, ASDPN will not hesitate using your personal information to inform relevant third parties who may include your employer and even law enforcement about the nature of your actions and its consequences on our program and its audience.
